"This is very wrong": Zelensky speaks about mobilization by force on the streets and men who left Ukraine. Video

Zelensky spoke about mobilization by force on the streets

President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized employees of territorial recruitment centers who walk the streets and catch men who ignore mobilization. According to him, this issue should be regulated at the legislative level so that such cases no longer occur on the streets of Ukrainian cities.

The Head of State explained that the digitalization of the mobilization process would help in this matter. Zelensky said this in an interview with the German TV channel ARD.

The President said that mobilization should be fair. In particular, the new draft law on mobilization, which is currently being prepared by the military and MPs, may contribute to this.

"Yes, there are cases, and this is very wrong, when representatives of military registration and enlistment offices walked the streets looking for guys who did not come to the military registration and enlistment offices. But I would like us to be fair. Are there any such cases? Yes, there are. Is it right? Absolutely not! They should not do this, so I asked our military, when they are preparing the bill, I asked that there be no chance of walking the streets," Zelensky said.

The president also explained that the issue of mobilization can be solved in a modern way, in particular through digitalization. At the same time, Zelensky emphasized that it is much easier to criticize from other countries that are not at war. However, only Ukrainians continue to sacrifice their lives for common European values.

"Today there are opportunities to use the digital format. We live in a time of digitalization, and we are a very digitalized country. We have established this process both during COVID and during the war. There is no problem to solve this issue in a modern way. We are under martial law, and it is very difficult to talk about protecting freedom when you are not under martial law, when you are not at war. Sometimes it is very comfortable to be in other countries and say that Ukraine defends our common values, but only Ukrainians give their lives," the President explained.

In addition, the head of state spoke about the citizens of Ukraine who are liable for military service and who illegally left the country after the outbreak of a full-scale war. According to Zelenskyy, these people should be in Ukraine.

However, it is not just about everyone having to defend their country with arms. The President explained that paying taxes to the budget is also a defense of the country, because this money is then used for the needs of the military.

"We would like to see people of mobilization age who left outside the country stay in Ukraine. The issue is not that they should all be at the front. It is a matter of justice. These people have to pay taxes. There are people who left and did not return to their jobs, it is their right. But if they are citizens of Ukraine, they have to pay taxes in Ukraine, because we then give this money to our military who defend us," the Head of State said.

As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he did not see the need to mobilize another 500,000 citizens. According to him, he did not receive enough information about the planned actions and operations that would require such a large-scale replenishment of troops.

Earlier it was reported that tens of thousands of Ukrainian men and women have already submitted their resumes for vacancies in the Ukrainian army since the fall of 2023 using the new recruitment system in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The main result is that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are getting truly motivated people who will serve where they want.
