Sweden agrees new package of defence equipment for Ukraine worth SEK 3.25 billion

The Swedish parliament, the Riksdag, has approved a new aid package for Ukraine. Its total value will be 3.25 billion Swedish kronor (about 270 million euros).

This was reported by the press service of the Riksdag. Kyiv will receive ammunition and spare parts worth almost SEK 1.1 billion (about €90 million).

Ukraine will also receive trucks and demining equipment worth up to SEK 2.15 billion (about €180 million).

In addition, the Parliament decided to authorise the government to sell AMRAAM air-to-air missiles to the United States, which are to be transferred to Ukraine.

This decision means that the defence and crisis preparedness line item in the Swedish state budget will increase by SEK 545 million (€46 million) in 2023.

The new package of military assistance from Sweden will be the thirteenth since the start of the large-scale war that Russia has unleashed in Ukraine.

As a reminder, Ukraine has started receiving Swedish Satcube satellite internet terminals, which are an alternative to the American Starlink from Elon Musk's SpaceX company. Starlink offers higher connection speeds than Satcube (100 Mbps vs. 70 Mbps), but the latter has an important advantage: their signal will be harder for the enemy to block thanks to geostationary satellites.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the Swedish government has announced the allocation of $584 million to restore Ukraine and implement reforms in our country that will help pave the way for EU membership. First of all, the funds will be used to build Ukrainian infrastructure and healthcare facilities.
