Russia engages far-right biker communities in kidnapping of Ukrainian children, - US Ambassador
The aggressor state of Russia continues to take Ukrainian children from the cities temporarily occupied by its troops to its territory. Moscow involves far-right biker communities in this process.
There is also evidence that Belarus is involved in this war crime. This was stated by the US Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice, Beth Van Skaak. She spoke at the conference United for Justice. War Crimes against Ukrainian Children in Canada on Sunday, December 3, the press service of the Office of the Attorney General reports.
According to Skaak, young Ukrainian citizens are taken from the occupied cities to Russia and then to Belarus.
"We have information about the involvement of Belarus in the abduction of children. Children are taken from Ukraine through the occupied territories to Russia and then to Belarus. Quite terrible non-governmental organizations, such as far-right biker communities, are involved in this," Van Skaak said.
The diplomat emphasized that the United States will continue to help Ukraine achieve justice and punish all criminals, but justice, she said, requires a long time.
However, she added that it is very important that every crime is documented. Washington and its partners are looking for mechanisms to punish the perpetrators.
Earlier it became known that Yale University conducted a study that showed that after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, the Russian occupiers took more than 2,400 Ukrainian children aged 6 to 17 to 13 institutions in Belarus. Children were abducted from at least 17 cities in the temporarily occupied territories.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, Iryna Vereshchuk said that officially there are about 20 thousand Ukrainian children who were illegally deported from the territory of Ukraine by Russia. However, there is reason to believe that the true number of children abducted by Russia could be hundreds of thousands.
