Not as primitive as last year: the Main Directorate of Intelligence explains how Russian winter attacks may differ
Russia may launch massive strikes on Ukraine's energy facilities after the onset of cold weather. These attacks will not be as primitive as last year's.
Vadym Skibitsky, a representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine. He noted that it is currently difficult to predict whether there will be more missiles or drones.
It is also difficult to predict the tactics and scheme of attacks - they can be different, said the representative of the Defence Intelligence.
"It could be attacks using only missiles of different types, or it could be combined attacks using both missiles and UAVs. At the same time, according to military intelligence, these will definitely not be such primitive attacks as last year," Skibitsky said.
As stated in the article, a large number of analysts and experts predict that the occupiers will resort to combined strikes using cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and "Shaheds". Thus, last year, Russia used very few ballistic missiles, with the exception of the Kh-22 and S-300. Given the strengthening of Ukraine's air defense, there may be more ballistic missile attacks.
However, according to the Main Directorate of Intelligence, Russia plans to use more cruise missiles.
The main striking elements will be Kh-101, Kh-555 and Kalibr, Skibitsky said. The fact that Russia has not used these weapons since September 25 may indicate that the enemy is accumulating them.
As reported by OBOZ.UA:
- The spokeswoman for the Southern Defense Forces, Natalia Gumenyuk, said that Russia could launch up to 56 Kalibr cruise missiles in one air attack. Ukraine faces a high level of danger from the Black Sea.
- Humeniuk also noted that Russia could significantly increase the number of missile attacks in the winter. Currently, the enemy is using targeted attacks to reconnoiter the positions of Ukrainian air defense.
- Earlier, the Kyiv City State Administration gave recommendations to Ukrainians in case of power outages. In particular, people are urged to stock up on water and food.
