Joined Moskva flagship at the bottom: Ukrainian Air Force commander confirms destruction of one of the most modern ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Kerch

On November 4, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck one of the most modern ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the Askold, in the temporarily occupied Kerch. This enemy vessel was a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles.

The hit was confirmed by the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Mykola Oleshchuk. Earlier, he posted a video of Russians panicking during the Ukrainian attack on the invaders' military facilities in Crimea (to watch, scroll down to the end).

"I hope another boat has joined Moskow flagship!" (the missile cruiser that the Ukrainian Armed Forces sent to the bottom on April 13, 2022- Ed.)," the lieutenant general wrote on Saturday evening.

As a reminder, information that defenders of Ukraine hit the occupiers' Zaliv shipyard with missile strikes on Kerch was spread online. It was noted that the small missile ship Askold of the 22800 Karakurt project was at least damaged there.

While everyone was waiting for the official confirmation of the results, Oleshchuk was first to thank the pilots of the tactical aviation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the successful cruise missile strikes on the infrastructure of the Russian plant. He emphasized that one of the most modern ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the Kalibr cruise missile carrier, was stationed there.

"Well done, SCALP! I also thank the anti-aircraft gunners of the East Air Command for shooting down the Iskander missiles that flew in response. Let's keep working! Together to victory!" he added.

On the morning of November 5, Oleshchuk confirmed the destruction of the Russian Askold.

"Confirmed," he wrote briefly.

The spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ihnat, said that the Russian Askold ship did not even have time to take part in the fighting during a TV marathon on November 5.

"It was undergoing some kind of final testing to go out and fight against our country," he said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army South, Serhiy Bratchuk, said that by striking Kerch, Ukrainian forces confirmed fire control over the territory of Crimea. According to him, the existence of the Crimean bridge is now under threat.
