On the night of Tuesday, December 26, a series of explosions occurred in occupied Feodosia (Crimea). Witnesses complained of "pops" in the port area, after which a fire broke out and detonations were heard. Later it became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had hit the large landing ship Novocherkassk.

This was reported by the commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk. He thanked the pilots of the aircraft and all those involved for their skillful work.

"Russia's fleet is getting smaller and smaller. This time, the large amphibious assault ship Novocherkassk is following the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the cruiser Moskva," Oleshchuk wrote.

In the morning, the Ukrainian Air Force confirmed the destruction of the Novocherkassk.

According to data released by the Crimean Wind Telegram channel a few hours after the arrival, Russia lost manpower in addition to the ship.

"As we are informed, there are dozens of dead and wounded on the Novocherkassk. Ambulances are driving back and forth," the post reads.

Also, the administrators of the public noticed on the satellite images that fires broke out outside the port territory.

"After the Novocherkassk bombing, fires have been observed not only in the port of Feodosia, but also near it, the Crimean Wind monitoring group reports, citing satellite data. Thus, two fires were recorded in the port and three outside it. OSINT specialists have determined that the downed ship is tentatively located at the point with these coordinates: 45.0282338, 35.3913121," the statement said.

Local residents wrote about the explosions in social media chats. Russian media disseminated information about the alleged work of Russian air defense, but its effectiveness is currently in question.

According to the channel, this ship brought Shahed kamikaze drones from Iran, which the occupiers are using to attack Ukraine. Later, this was also reported on the Telegram channel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "The commander of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, thanked the pilots of the Air Force and all those involved for the destruction of the Novocherkassk large amphibious assault ship. They say it was transporting "chess pieces"," they said.

The Novocherkassk large amphibious assault ship of Project 775 was in service with the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy. It was designed to land amphibious assault troops on unequipped coastlines and transfer troops and cargo by sea. It is capable of transporting various types of armored vehicles, including tanks.

The moment of one of the explosions in the port was caught on video. It was so powerful that windows flew out of houses in the Morsad district of Feodosia.

The so-called head of the occupation "authorities" of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, confirmed the attack on Feodosia. He said that the port area was cordoned off, the detonation had allegedly stopped, and the fire was localized.

For the Novocherkassk large amphibious assault ship, this was the last, but not the first, damage: On March 24, 2022, it was damaged in the port of occupied Berdiansk in Zaporizhzhia, and another Russian ship, the Saratov, was destroyed.

Meanwhile, the Russians reacted hysterically to the news of the "pop" and the replenishment of the Russian submarine fleet. They demanded the use of nuclear weapons, strikes on Bankova Street, and the killing of as many Ukrainians as possible, because Ukraine had crossed another "red line."
