Titov accuses Ukraine of suspension

President of the Russian Gymnastics Federation (RGF) Vasily Titov complained that Ukraine has blocked the possibility of Russian athletes to compete at the 2024 Olympics. The henchman of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin noted that the leading representatives of the aggressor country failed to obtain a "neutral status" in this type of program.

Titov said this in a comment to the propaganda news agency R-Sport. The head of the FSB's public council accused Ukrainians of sending the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) evidence of Russian athletes' support for the war and non-compliance with the conditions of admission.

"Our former Ukrainian partners sent the IOC and FIG a whole photo dossier for each member of our team. With photos with ribbons, from various events. They were very active in helping to make the decision to ban us. The issues related to the association with the state and the sports societies Dynamo and CSKA remained. And this is one of the most powerful obstacles. There was no chance of getting a neutral status. And the procedure is expensive, about three thousand Swiss francs for each person," said Titov.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, Irina Viner, called neutral Russian athletes a "team of homeless." And Seoul-88 champion Mikhail Mamiashvili called the IOC "a bunch of cultists, scoundrels, fraudsters."

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, in late April, the Ukrainian artistic gymnastics team consisting of Ilya Kovtun, Oleg Verniaiev, Igor Radivilov, Nazar Chepurny and Radomir Stelmakh won gold in the team all-around at the European Championships 2024.
