Mamiashvili criticized Ann Hidalgo

Mikhail Mamiashvili, President of the Russian Wrestling Federation (RWF), was outraged by the statement of Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, who opposed the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in the 2024 Olympics. In doing so, the Vladimir Putin regime's henchman spoke about the similarities between modern Russia and Hitler's Germany.

Mamiashvili said this in an interview with the propaganda publication Sport-Express. The Seoul-88 Olympic champion recalled the fall of France during World War II. He also complained that in 1941, the Wehrmacht troops were happily "welcomed in Paris," while Russian "athletes were not welcome there."

"Look at the chronicle when the Wehrmacht troops entered the French capital. How happy they were to meet them. And they do not want to see athletes there. More precisely, unwanted guests will be there. However, this is not their platform, by and large. Unfortunately, this pseudo-Olympic Committee has set this trend, which is a gradually destructive force. This wave set by the International Olympic Committee came under the most severe political pressure. And they could not find the responsibility to carry out the same Olympic charter," Mamiashvili said.

Earlier, former world heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev attacked the French with threats over Anne Hidalgo's words. In turn, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized the Paris mayor with the words "another such statement...".
