"Our fate has already been decided": Russian gymnasts confirm refusal to participate in the 2024 Olympics

Valentina Rodionenko, the head coach of the Russian gymnastics team, confirmed that the team will not participate in the 2024 Olympic Games. She accused international federations of trying to bring Russian athletes to their knees and also admired the deaths of her compatriots in the criminal war against Ukraine.

Rodionenko said this in an interview with the propaganda TV channel Match TV. The accomplice of Vladimir Putin's dictatorial regime also expressed confidence that Belarusian athletes who will travel to Paris "!will not be allowed to win anything."

"Our fate has already been decided. In gymnastics, it is clear that we are not going to the Olympics. The IOC has done everything possible to keep us out. The IOC is looking for people like this to split our society. They humiliated Russian sport, they want to bring it to its knees. Tell me, what is more important: men dying for their country or a potential medal at the Olympics? Thank God, our athletes understand this; no one in gymnastics has any thoughts of going to the competition. Even if Belarusians get to the Games, no one will let them win anything," Rodionenko said.

Earlier, the coach of Russian gymnasts said she was "surprised" that Ukraine does not understand why it seeks to "remove Russia" from world sport. And the winner of the Tokyo Games, Nikita Nagorny, accused the IOC of violating the rights of Russians.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov demanded that the IOC ignore Russia's military aggression against Ukraine and not be interested in this topic at all. In turn, Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin unexpectedly opposed the boycott of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
