"It is unlikely to collapse": Peskov says Russia failed to destroy world sport
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of dictator Vladimir Putin, has expressed confidence that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will continue its activities. The Kremlin spokesman noted that Russia will continue to cooperate with the organization, despite the hysterical calls of many athletes in Russia to refuse to do so.
Peskov said this in a comment to the R-Sport propaganda news agency. The spokesman for the president of the terrorist state also criticized the IOC for calling on athletes not to participate in the so-called Friendship Games, which will be held in Russia next year on Putin's orders.
"The letter 'm' in the IOC abbreviation (MOK in Russian) does not mean a monopoly on the sports world, formats can be different and outside the context of this committee. Russia will continue its contacts with the IOC no matter what. The IOC is unlikely to collapse in the near future," Peskov said.
Earlier, his wife Tatyana Navka also accused the IOC of trying to monopolize sports and intimidate international federations. And two-time Olympic hockey champion Vyacheslav Fetisov threw a real tantrum and demanded that the IOC not interfere in Russian affairs. In turn, the president of the Russian Cross-Country Ski Federation (RCCF), Yelena Vyalbe, expressed the absurd idea that Russian athletes would be begged to return to international tournaments.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Russian fans demanded that three-time Olympic champion Irina Rodnina be expelled from the country after she compared the Russian Figure Skating Grand Prix to the "first of the ZhEK".
