Ponomarev criticized Chalov

Russian national team striker Fedor Chalov has been criticized by former CSKA Moscow player Vladimir Ponomarev. The 1966 FIFA World Cup participant insulted the Greek PAOK player because he decided to play in Europe.

Ponomarev said this in an interview with the RB Sport portal. The USSR bronze medalist, in a patriotic rage, actually accused Chalov of betraying the country and the army club and added that after playing abroad, the 25-year-old forward would be of no interest to Russian clubs.

"The road to CSKA is closed. What a fool. The club pays such money. He would have been a favorite, would have scored his goals from two meters and done well. He would have earned crazy money. And now nobody wants him. He has already lost his credibility. Let him now look for a job in Greece, in some team. Or maybe someone in the First League will need him. He is a young fool. He played in Switzerland, didn't he? He was in Europe, but no one paid attention to him. I told him not to go anywhere," Ponomarev said.

Earlier, Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin's decision to grant Russian citizenship to the Brazilian Zenit captain was called a "disaster for all Russian sports."

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Russian midfielder Daniil Glebov, with a traditional sense of self-importance for Russian representatives, accused Pakistanis of disrespect.
