"Well done for abandoning the Ukrainians!" The Olympic champion from Russia was delighted with the act of our country's biathlon champion
Four-time Olympic champion Alexander Tikhonov was delighted after biathlete Katerina Bekh decided to give up playing for the Ukrainian national team and return to Russia. The war fan, who is known for his insulting and dismissive remarks about Europeans, was delighted that the athlete had "abandoned the Ukrainians".
Tikhonov said this in a comment to the Sport24 portal. In his opinion, Bekh's arrival in the Russian national team will strengthen it, as the 24-year-old native of Khabarovsk Krai has experience, and she has twice become a world junior champion, which has not happened to Russians for a long time.
"I can only congratulate her! She is a world champion! Of course, I can't say anything against the restoration of her citizenship! Remind me, when did we have a world champion? A long time ago! It's a disaster. And Bech is well done for sending Ukrainians and Austrians who are fighting against Russia!" Tikhonov said pompously.
It should be noted that Bekh had been supporting Russia, but in 2018 she received Ukrainian citizenship and began to support our country. After the full-scale invasion of Russia on February 24, Katerina fled to her historical homeland, and the day before she announced that she had renewed her Russian passport.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, world biathlon champion Anton Shipulin called the conditions for the admission of Russian athletes to the competition, which were previously made public by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), incorrect.
