Zelenskyy: Russia is weak, we are defeating it even when it has more weapons in its hands

Ukraine did not want the war and did not go to seize other people's territories, it was our country that fell victim to the aggression of a much larger and heavily armed enemy, the Russian Federation. Nevertheless, Ukrainians have accepted the battle, are fighting for their freedom, and are winning even when the enemy has more weapons.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his speech at the Arab League Summit. He emphasised that Russia has proved to be weak, and its aggression is a consequence of the realisation that the time of empires is over.

"We do not have missiles like our enemy. We have a smaller air force. We do not have the numerous killer drones that Iran supplies to Russia. We don't have as much artillery. But we are standing firm because we have the truth on our side. Moreover, we are expelling the occupiers from our land. And anyone who defends their native land from the occupiers, protects the children of their nation from slavery, every such warrior stands on the path of justice. And I am proud to represent such warriors and the entire Ukrainian people," the Head of State began his speech.

He stressed: Ukraine never wanted war, but this did not save our country from the Russian invasion.

"We did not choose war. We did not go to foreign lands. We did not participate in annexations and plundering the resources of other nations. But we will never give in to the colonisers. That is why we are fighting. And I am confident that your nations will understand our call: help protect our people, including the Ukrainian Muslim community," Zelenskyy said.

He added that the Ukrainian delegation to the Arab League summit also included a representative of the Crimean Tatar people, Mustafa Dzhemilev, whose people were among the first to experience the consequences of the arrival of evil from the east on Ukrainian soil when Russia occupied Crimea in 2014.

The President stressed that Russia's perceived "strength" in reality turned out to be a weakness.

"Russia is weak. We defeat it even when it has more weapons in its hands. Its aggressiveness comes not from strength, but from the realisation that the time of empires is over. This is because the time of free, independent nations will never end. And Ukraine proves it, just as your League proves it," Zelenskyy said.

The President of Ukraine also invited the League members to cooperate directly with any intermediaries of Ukraine. He recalled the positive experience of the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war with the mediation of Saudi Arabia - and called on other League members to join this noble cause, even if they do not fully support Ukraine and call Russia's aggressive invasion a "conflict".

"And let our strength be coordinated for the sake of peace and the good of the people of all nations," Zelenskyy said.

Recall that on May 19, President Zelenskyy arrived in Saudi Arabia to address the participants of the 32nd summit of the Arab League, which unites 22 countries. The programme of the President's official visit also includes a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al-Saud and a series of bilateral talks.

It was reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad attended the Arab League summit for the first time in 12 years.
