Letelier will referee the Euro 2024 final

The European Football Union (UEFA) has appointed a French team of referees for the final match of the 2024 FIFA Continental Championship, which is currently taking place in Germany. François Letelier, 35, will be the chief referee of the match between Spain and England.

This was reported by the official UEFA website. The Frenchman will be assisted by his compatriots on the lines of Cyrille Munier and Madi Ramouni. The role of the fourth referee will be played by the referee of the 2022 World Cup final, Szymon Marciniak from Poland. The game will also feature a video replay system (VAR), which will be overseen by Jerome Brizard.

Letelier became a Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) referee at the age of 28 and has since played 65 matches in the UEFA tournament. At Euro 2024, the Frenchman worked at three matches, including the 1/8 finals match between Spain and Georgia.

The Frenchman became the youngest referee appointed to the European Championship final. Prior to that, the championship in this aspect was held by the Swede Anders Frisk, who refereed the decisive match of the 2000 championship at the age of 37. Interestingly, Letelier is younger than the Spanish midfielder Jesus Navas.

As a reminder, the Euro 2024 final between Spain and England will take place on Sunday, July 14, in Berlin. The game starts at 22:00 Kyiv time.
