Renault is preparing new EVs for the market as next-generation budget cars. However, against their background, many buyers will find the usual inexpensive cars more profitable. Such cars will remain on sale.

Renault's designers, speaking to Motor1, noted that electric cars are not yet replacing the usual affordable cars with internal combustion engines. This was announced against the backdrop of the launch of the Renault 5 E-Tech EV and Renault 4 E-Tech electric models.

The small hatchback and compact crossover are considered by many to be an alternative to the Clio and Captur. However, the company noted that the new products do not replace these models - all cars will exist on the market in parallel.

Renault 5

The new Renault 5 E-Tech electric car is designed to look like the Renault R5 budget hatchback, which was produced from 1972 to 1996. The compact body has straight geometric features and large elements of simple shapes.

The silhouette of the Renault 4 crossover refers to the famous classic Renault 4L hatchback of the 60s of the twentieth century. The front has a laconic glossy black panel and neat headlights. The Renault 4 E-Tech electric car has unpainted plastic parts on the bumpers.
