Point Nemo, named after the submarine sailor from Jules Verne's novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, is the most remote place in the middle of the world's ocean.
It is so far from civilization that the closest people to it are those who orbit above us on the International Space Station. The amazing fact was shared by a TikTok user under the nickname Psychopoly.
He pointed out the complete isolation, saying, "If you need someone's help here, it would take 15 days for people to get to you (by boat), which would be equivalent to going two-thirds of the way across the United States." The author of the video did not stop there, noting that Point Nemo is located near the place where the famous mysterious The Bloop sound was discovered, which gave rise to theories about cracked icebergs or a huge unknown sea creature.

In 2022, it became known that NASA is considering decommissioning the International Space Station by sinking it into the ocean over the next decade. The space agency plans to de-orbitalize the laboratory in January 2031, sending it to the "cemetery of spacecraft", which is exactly Point Nemo.
