How to cook fluffy rice that does not turn into porridge: we share the exact proportions
Rice is a very valuable and tasty product that is best eaten cooked, without the addition of spices, vegetables, or oil. However, it is imperative to know some rules when cooking rice so that it does not stick together during the cooking process.
The chef shared on Instagram useful tips on how to cook fluffy rice that won't turn into porridge during cooking.
Ingredients:
- Long grain rice – 1 cup
- water – 1 cup
- salt
Tip: the glass can be of any volume, the only important thing is the same proportions of water and rice. The proportions of cooking rice are 1:1, forget the proportions of 1:2, 1:3!
Method of preparation:
1. Rinse thoroughly several times in cold water. Stir the rice in the water and rub it in your palms to wash away as much starch as possible. Cook rice when the water is clear after washing!
2. Pour the rice into a saucepan with a thick bottom (preferably). Cover with cold water so that the water covers the grain by half a centimeter.
3. Turn on high heat, put the pot on without a lid, and wait for the water to boil. As soon as the water boils, cover the pot, reduce the heat to medium, and let it cook for about 15 minutes.
