German police were shocked by the cold-bloodedness with which 17-year-old Ukrainian basketball player Volodymyr Yermakov was murdered at the Oberhausen train station. The attacker, who is suspected of the crime, showed no remorse during his arrest, indicating that he has had ongoing problems with the law.
This was reported by BILD, whose journalists managed to talk to one of the police officers involved in the investigation. According to him, the 15-year-old German with Turkish roots provoked Yermakov and his friend for no reason and also tried to kill the teenagers who rushed to help the Ukrainians.
A 14-year-old Syrian boy and a 13-year-old German girl of Lebanese descent were injured in the arms while trying to defend themselves against the perpetrator. "This is an incomprehensible act, absolutely senseless. The attacker deliberately sought a conflict with a much older man and then immediately ruthlessly used a knife. He did not care whether anyone was killed. And during his arrest, he showed no signs of remorse. He must have been tired. of many crimes and clashes with the police," commented one of the law enforcement officers.
Yermakov and his friend Artem Kozachenko were attacked on the eve of their next match. they played for the ART Giants (U-19) youth team from Dusseldorf. Volodymyr used to play basketball and played in the Teivaz and 5T.EAM-DUSSH-12 children's teams (born in 2006). As a member of the Ukrainian U-16 national team, he played at the 2022 European Championships in Bulgaria.
