Winter is a time when your diet should be particularly balanced and nourishing. Experts advise eating seasonal vegetables, fish and meat, seafood, seeds, berries, and drinking healthy teas, icluding fruit ones.
Nutritionist Olha Dorosh shared a list of budget foods that can easily replace expensive ones on Instagram.
Meat
You can replace it with offal: liver, heart, or ventricles. You can bake or stew it or make pates!
Red fish
An alternative is mackerel or very healthy and tasty herring!
Sea bass, dorado
Hake, tilapia, pollock are no less healthy than dorado and sea bass, which are many times more expensive!
Buckwheat, wild rice, amaranth, quinoa
Millet, barley, wheat, and any available cereal can be a useful alternative, and beans and chickpeas are also a great substitute.
Tomatoes, cucumbers
Cabbage, sauerkraut, carrots, and beets can replace fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. You can also replace sweet potatoes with regular potatoes!
Salad mix, microgreens
These greens can be replaced with budget-friendly wild garlic or green onions!
