What holidays are celebrated on November 25
November 25, according to the New Julian calendar, is the day of memory of St. Clement. Clement was born in the first century AD in a family of pagans. One day his mother and her younger children went to Rome and disappeared. Later, his father also went in search of her and never returned. Clement wandered for a long time until he met the apostles Barnabas and Peter. The apostles told him about Jesus Christ and Clement was baptized. In Christianity, Clement is known as the Bishop of Rome, who was appointed by the Apostle Peter himself.
The UN General Assembly declared November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. On this day, governments, international and non-governmental organizations hold events aimed at drawing public attention to this problem. The day is also dedicated to the events that took place in 1961 in the Dominican Republic - on the order of the ruler Rafael Trujillo, three Mirabal sisters, who were political activists, were brutally murdered.
