American astronaut and chemical engineer Donald Roy Petit has shared a mesmerizing video from space that captures the Starlinks satellites. This fantastic view was taken from the International Space Station (ISS), where it is now.

They instantly flash with sunlight and look something like fireflies. The NASA astronaut posted the video on his Instagram page.

"Space fireflies. These are actually Starlinks satellites that flash instantly with sunlight from their solar panels when they are oriented for observation," he signed the post.

In the comments, readers express their delight at what they saw, and one user asked Petit if this was filmed in real time or if the video was sped up, and another wondered if we ever thought that artificial "fireflies" would fly in space and we would be able to observe it?

Recently, we reported that NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) photographed comet C/2023 A3, which appears once every 80 thousand years. They managed to capture it against the background of the aurora borealis, as well as catch the tail of this bright "star".
