One of the most recognizable child actors of the 80s is coming back: who is Tami Stronach and what movies she is known for

Tami Stronach is one of the most recognizable child actors of the 80s

Iranian-born 1980s star Tami Stonach returned to acting at the age of 51 after a long "vacation" of 40 years. She is best known for her role as The Childlike Empress in The NeverEnding Story, and on July 28, 2024, she will appear in Man and Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps, where she will play a witch, one of the main roles.

In the 1980s, Tami Stonach fascinated the world with her touching role as the Empress, which she played to perfection. The film quickly became a classic, and the directors decided to release a second part, but the little girl was no longer involved. As the woman told Metro, she had dreamed of being an actress since early childhood.

"I have loved performing since I could walk. It was my happy place. It was such a spectacle that I don't think I realized how lucky I was as a child," Stonach said.

She was about 10 years old when the movie was filmed. The girl was already studying acting and accidentally got an audition for the film's cast. The director of The NeverEnding Story, Wolfgang Petersen, predicted a Hollywood career for Stonach, but her life turned out differently, and now the star has begun to make up for lost time. Instead of acting, the woman has been dancing for 40 years and has built her life around it.

"Navigating fame and coordinating the right projects was much more difficult, and we weren't a Hollywood family. Some of the scripts I got were very adult and not suitable for a child, and I felt very strongly as a child that I didn't want to do anything that wasn't a good acting role," she said about ending her career.

The actress explained that it was her fans who have been asking about new film projects for 40 years that made her return to filming. "I have fans who have been writing to me for 40 years, asking, 'When are you going to make your next movie?' These people, for whom The NeverEnding Story is so important, not the industry, made me come back. They said, 'Come on, just do something' and they convinced me," the star continued.
