Fried pies like grandma's: what is the best way to make dough

Grandma's pies are one of the fondest childhood memories of each of us. The unique taste and flavor of these pastries is still well remembered. So why not make them again, but this time on your own?

A food blogger with the nickname anny cooking presented a recipe for "grandma's" fried pies on Instagram. She also told us what is the best way to prepare the dough to make the dish exactly the same as in childhood.

Ingredients for dough for 18 pcs

  • Eggs - 1 pc
  • Kefir - 300 ml
  • Flour - 500 g
  • Soda - 1.5 tsp
  • Salt - ½ tsp
  • Sugar - 2 tsp
  • Oil - 2 tbsp.

Ingredients for the cabbage filling

  • Cabbage - 1 pc
  • Onion - 1 pc
  • Carrot - 1 pc
  • Garlic - 2-3 cloves
  • Tomato paste - ½ tbsp
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Bay leaf
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Oil.

Ingredients for the cheese filling:

  • Egg - 1 pc.
  • Cottage cheese - 300 gr
  • Salt - 1 tsp.

How to cook

1.Prepare thedough. Kefir should be at room temperature or warm.

2. Mix all the ingredients and knead the dough.

3. Leave it for 30 minutes.

4. Prepare the cabbage filling. Fry the onion, add the carrots, cabbage, garlic, water and simmer under the lid for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5. At the end of cooking, add tomato paste, salt, pepper, bay leaf and simmer for another 5-10 minutes until the moisture evaporates.

6. Prepare the cheese filling. Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl.

7. Blend until a homogeneous mass is formed.

8. Form patties and fry in a frying pan with plenty of oil until golden on both sides.
