Children born in 2025 will be part of a new generation: what is Beta and how they differ from Alpha
Children born in 2025 will be the first of a new group of peers, the Beta generation. It will last until about 2039 and follows the Alpha generation, which lasted from 2010 to 2024.
According to social researcher and futurist Mark McCrindle, the new generation of children will inherit a world struggling with major societal challenges. With climate change, global population change, and rapid urbanization at the forefront, sustainability will not just be an advantage, but an expectation, NyPost writes.
Before that, it was Generation Z, which lasted from 1996 to 2010, and Generation Y, or millennials, who were born from 1981 to 1996.
By 2035, the Beta Generation will make up 16% of the world's population and live in a world powered by artificial intelligence.
"Generation Beta will live in an era where artificial intelligence and automation are fully embedded in everyday life, from education and jobs to healthcare and entertainment," explained McCrindle.
The scientist also added that parents of the beta generation, who are mostly Generation Z, may take a different approach to social media use than their predecessors: most millennial parents use social media to document their children's lives, while Generation Z knows more about both the positive aspects and problems associated with using social media from an early age.
"Parents of Generation Z are likely to agree that limiting their child's screen time is a priority for them," the researcher says.
