Called a "knockout": how critics evaluated the new vampire horror "Nosferatu"
The 1922 German horror film Nosferatu, Symphony of Terror has become a classic of the genre. The film, which was written by the legendary Bram Stoker, gave rise to the iconic image of a vampire rising from the coffin. No wonder it has been revisited regularly throughout the history of cinema.
The newest attempt to revive the character by director Robert Eggers is due for release in Ukraine on January 2, 2025. According to Variety, the film may be a great success.
Lily-Rose Depp and Bill Skarsgård play the main roles in the horror. They embodied a terrifying otherworldly creature and a woman who becomes the object of his lust. The film's cast also includes Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrine, Ralph Fiennes, Simon McBurney and Willem Dafoe. The director wrote the script for his version of Nosferatu himself.
The film is due to be released in the US on Christmas Day, and its active promotional campaign is already underway. However, journalists who have already seen the new version of the horror call it nothing less than a knockout. And in a positive sense.
The film is called the perfect remake of the classic, and Depp is predicted to receive at least nominations for prestigious awards for his performance. The humor of the new Nosferatu is characterized as "devilish". They also scare future viewers by saying that they will definitely start to be afraid of rats, even if they have always been calm about them.
Eggers himself has admitted in interviews that the adaptation of his own vision of Nosferatu has always been a dream project for him. To pay tribute to the work of the 1922 film director Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, he shot his version largely in black and white.
