A portrait of the English mathematician Alan Turing became the first work of art by AI artist Ai-Da, one of the most advanced robots in the world. The painting was sold at Sotheby's in New York for $1 million.

The 2.2-meter portrait titled "The God of Artificial Intelligence. Portrait of Alan Turing" received 27 bids. This is a record sale price for the first work by a robot artist put up for auction, and it marks a moment in the history of contemporary art and reflects the growing relationship between artificial intelligence technologies and the global art market, The Guardian writes.

One of the most advanced robots in the world, Ai-Da is designed to resemble a female human and is named after Ada Lovelace, the world's first female programmer. It was created by Aidan Miller, a contemporary art specialist.

According to the AI artist, this portrait of Alan Turing invites viewers to reflect on the godlike nature of artificial intelligence and computing, while considering the ethical and societal implications of these advances.

"The key value of my work is its ability to serve as a catalyst for a dialog about new technologies," said Ai-Da, who uses artificial intelligence to communicate.
