5G launched in Ukraine for the first time: in which cities
Ukraine has launched 5G (the fifth generation of mobile communications) in a test mode. As part of the test, a call was made between Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, and Helsinki, Finland. The results were positive.
This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov. He noted that the testing was provided by Vodafone and Nokia.
"For the first time in Ukraine, 5G was launched in test mode. The Promprylad Innovation Center in Ivano-Frankivsk, Vodafone's office in Kyiv, and Nokia's office in Helsinki made a 5G call and checked the quality of communication. Everything works," the statement said.
How the 5G test went
According to Vodafone, the test took place on May 25. The format was a teleconference.
"The Eclectic Sound Orchestra performed on the roof of Vodafone's office in Kyiv, and the female vocal group Spivochi performed on the stage of Promprylad in Ivano-Frankivsk. Thanks to 5G, we were able to transmit sound and images without delay, ensuring synchronized performance. The audience enjoyed all the shades of live sound, demonstrating the capabilities of the latest technologies," the company said.
"Kyivstar" will disconnect Ukrainians from 3G
At the same time, Kyivstar is planning to stop supporting 3G and has already started sending SMS messages to its subscribers. The company is doing this to:
- development of the 4G network;
- introducing new technologies.
"Kyivstar has started sending out SMS messages about 3G disconnection. Kyivstar plans to stop supporting 3G to further develop its 4G network and introduce new technologies. We will inform you about the date of the 3G shutdown in advance," said MZU – Mobile Communications of Ukraine, an independent community of mobile technologies in Ukraine.
