Germans fertilize tomatoes with fish to get a rich harvest

Spring is the hottest season for gardeners, as they need to take all the necessary measures to get a bountiful and tasty harvest in the fall and late summer. As early as mid-April, tomato seedlings are planted in seedbeds or greenhouses.

You should not plant tomatoes in the open ground too early, as frost can ruin the seedlings. It's important to calculate that 52 to 58 days should pass before the seedlings are planted in the garden, but the date should be planned to take into account the variety. There is an old German method that guarantees a quality harvest. OBOZREVATEL figured out what its peculiarity is.

The German way of planting tomatoes

Germans use a fertilizer that is unusual for Ukrainians - fish. It is rich in micronutrients, thanks to which tomatoes will grow healthy and large.

You should take large plastic buckets without a bottom and bury them in the ground about 2/3 of the total height. In this way, we form a hole that needs to be well watered.

Then put 2 small fish at the bottom of each hole. Next, place the seedlings in the hole and sprinkle them with soil.

The German method has a number of advantages:

  • water and fertilizers seep directly into the roots and do not spread out from the sides
  • plastic buckets - additional protection against pests

By the way, tomatoes also like cinnamon fertilizer. Dilute 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in 1 liter of warm water. After insisting on the solution for 1-2 days, you can water the seedlings.

OBOZREVATEL earlier told when and how to thin tomato seedlings.
