How many eggs do you need for a fluffy and successful sponge cake: tips and a recipe
Sponge cake is one of the most popular desserts, which can be the basis for making other desserts and cakes. Very often, sponge cakes are not as fluffy as we would like due to a lack of proportions.
Cook Svitlana shared on Instagram a recipe for a fluffy, successful sponge cake with salted caramel that will turn out to be very lush.
To make the sponge cake fluffy, you only need 5 eggs for the base!
Ingredients:
- eggs – 5 pcs.
- flour – 100 g
- sugar – 150 g
- salted caramel – 2 tbsp.
- corn starch – 20 g
- baking powder – 0.5 tsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Beat the eggs on medium speed and add sugar in 2-3 stages and then beat on high speed for 4-5 minutes until white fluffy mass.
2. Then add the caramel and beat for another 30 seconds.
3. Next, sift the flour, starch, and baking powder in two stages, and mix until smooth.
4. Put the dough into the mold and bake in a preheated oven at 160 C for 40-50 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
5. Remove the cake from the mold and let it cool, then wrap it in cling film and leave it in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours, preferably overnight.
