"The King in Hell". Vandals spoiled the scandalous portrait of Charles III

Animal rights activists have "spoiled" the first official portrait of King Charles, which is on display in a London gallery. The organization Animal Rising published a video in which two people use a roller to stick posters on the portrait of the monarch.

The activists covered the king's head with an image of the British cartoon character Wallace from the comedy series "Wallace and Gromit", CNN report. Then a sticker with the text was attached to the picture: "No Gromit cheese, look at all this cruelty on RSCPA farms."

The campaign aimed to draw attention to a new study of 45 farms whose welfare standards are guaranteed by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). The RSPCA Assured program promises that animals on protected farms will receive more living space and will never be kept in cages. Animal Rising called the result of the analysis "damning," claiming that they found "animal abuse."

This is not the first scandal related to the official portrait of Charles. After the presentation of the painting by artist Jonathan Yeo in May 2024, a real debate arose online. Some people didn't appreciate the artist's innovative view, while others even saw the image of the devil with horns and the colors of hell in the painting.
