Five participants of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 who were not afraid to call for peace on stage. Ukraine is among them

The performers representing Portugal, Lithuania, Ireland and France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 called for peace and love from the stage. They were joined by representatives of Ukraine, alyona alyona and Jerry Heil. At the end of their performance, the Ukrainians said: "Unite, world! Peace to Ukraine".

OBOZ.UA broadcast the grand final, where Ukraine took third place. However, most of the contestants called for peace between Israel and Palestine.

Israel's participation in the competition caused some chaos. There were calls to boycott the competition against the backdrop of Israel's bombing of Palestine, which killed more than 35,000 people. At the same time, many participants shared their dislike of Eden Golan's participation this year.

In addition, the Dutch public broadcaster in Belgium briefly interrupted the start of the live broadcast of the second semifinal of the show to display a message calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

"This is a strike. We condemn the violation of human rights by the state of Israel. In addition, the state of Israel is destroying freedom of speech. Therefore, we are interrupting the broadcast for a moment. Stop the fire now. Stop the genocide now ," the message read.

After Nemo's song "The Code" became this year's winner, the singer called for peace in his speech.

"I hope that this contest will live up to its promise and continue to advocate for peace and dignity for every person in this world ," said the winner.

Lithuanian Sylvester Belt, who appeared on stage, ended his song Luktelk with a wish to "spread love in the world."

Irish singer Bambi Thug shouted from the stage that "love will always conquer hate" at the end of her performance. Fans also noted that the colors of the Palestinian flag were painted on their nails with acrylics.

Later, Portuguese singer Yolanda added that after her performance of the song Grito, "peace will reign" on stage. Fans saw that her nails were painted with Palestinian Keffiyeh patterns.

French contestant Slimane ended his emotional song Mon Amour by saying that everyone is "united by music for love and peace." This comes after the singer, known on the channel for his participation in the French spin-off of The Voice, stopped his performance during Saturday's dress rehearsal to share a similar message.
