King Charles suspends cancer treatment due to work
King Charles III of Great Britain is putting his cancer treatment on hold with the consent of his doctors. This is because the monarch is due to visit Australia next week for a high-level royal visit.
This was reported by the Daily Mail The 75-year-old Charles will make an important official visit, which will begin on October 18, visiting Sydney and Canberra, and will be followed immediately by a state visit to Samoa in the South Pacific, where he will take part in a meeting of Commonwealth heads of government. The King will continue his treatment once he returns to England.
His Majesty was diagnosed with an unknown form of the disease in February following prostate surgery and has been undergoing weekly treatment since then. However, the news that the King intends to "suspend" the procedures for the sake of the tour is a good thing for his health and also highlights the commitment to duty he has shown since his diagnosis.
The king and his wife, Queen Camilla, have a very tight schedule – up to ten meetings a day during the royal visit – and only one "day off" to rest. Insiders emphasize that their program was organized in close consultation with doctors and "takes into account" his condition. The events were organized in such a way as to "prioritize" the royal's further recovery.
As usual, the King's entourage will include a doctor who will travel with him, which is standard practice for a head of state. The long-awaited trip is of great significance as it is his first visit to the Kingdom, of which Charles is head of state since he became king, and his first summit meeting as head of the Commonwealth.
Both his wife and advisers have urged the workaholic king to slow down, but sources say he feels "energized" by his work – and it was important for him to psychologically stick to his usual routine in such a difficult time.
