"This is a real dilemma for Putin": Biden comments on Ukraine's Kursk operation for the first time

Joe Biden comments on the events in Kursk region

The unexpected attack on Russia's Kursk region "creates a real dilemma" for Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin. This is how US President Joe Biden commented on the operation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in Russia, which began on August 6, for the first time.

On August 13, while in the southern American city of New Orleans, the US leader answered a journalist's question about the situation in Kursk. The New York Post noted that Biden and many other US officials had previously avoided commenting on the issue directly.

"I have been in regular contact with my staff, probably every four to five hours over the last six to eight days. This (the operation in the Kursk region - Ed.) is creating a real dilemma for Putin," the US president said.

"And we have been in direct contact, constant contact with the Ukrainians. That's all I'm going to say about it while it's still in its active phase," he added.

Earlier, the State Department said that Washington is not involved in planning the offensive of the Armed Forces in the Kursk region of Russia. The role of the United States is to support Kyiv in the defense of the state. Earlier, the State Department said that the Ukrainian operation on the territory of the Russian Federation was aimed at self-defense.

The White House also advised Putin to withdraw his occupation troops from Ukraine if he is concerned about the situation in Kursk.
