The boom barriers near Kerch in October 2024

The boom barriers, which Russia is using to protect the Kerch Bridge from attacks by Ukrainian naval drones, are floating in the waters off the coast of Kerch. Thus, fragments of these barriers were recorded in the area of the city's embankment.

This was reported by Radio Liberty. Some of the barriers were brought ashore by the sea current in the central part of Kerch.

In the summer of 2024, the Russian occupiers began installing barges on the south side of the bridge for protection. Later, they added more barges, as well as boom barriers that are placed parallel to the bridge.

The Kerch Bridge is a key transportation corridor between Russia and the occupied Crimea and is used for military supplies to the aggressor country.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Russia has stepped up measures to defend the Kerch Bridge in the temporarily occupied Crimea. New satellite images show a significant increase in the number of barges protecting the facility. The terrorist state has installed new barriers and two Pantsyr anti-aircraft missile systems near the structure.

As a reminder, the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Andriy Yusov, said that a plan to destroy the bridge and return Crimea had already been developed. This, in turn, caused a real storm in the Russian information space.

The Center for Investigative Journalism has previously reported that the occupiers are trying to protect the Kerch Bridge in various ways. They not only increase the number of air defense and electronic warfare systems around the bridge, but also build a kind of "fence" in the sea.
