Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold footholds on the left bank of Kherson region: 9 enemy attacks repelled over the last day - General Staff

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. During the day, they repelled 9 enemy assault attacks, but our units continue to hold their positions and inflict significant losses on the invaders.

This is stated in the evening report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook on December 31. In total, 42 combat engagements took place at the front during the day.

Russian attacks and the situation at the front

In total, the enemy launched 12 missile and 58 air strikes, including with Shahed-136/131 attack drones, and fired 48 MLRS attacks at our troops' positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private residential and apartment buildings, as well as other civilian and industrial infrastructure, were destroyed and damaged.

At the Siversky and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy maintains military presence in the border areas. More than 30 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Khrinivka in Chernihiv region; Ulitsa, Svarkove, Stukalivka, Basivka, Vysoke, Popivka in Sumy region; Vetarine, Kozacha Lopan, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Budarky, Bologivka in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 attacks by the occupiers near Synkivka, Kharkiv region. The enemy also launched an air strike near Ivanivka, Kharkiv region. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove in the Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman sector, the enemy conducted an assault near Makiivka, Luhansk region. He conducted an air strike near Serebryanske forestry in Luhansk region and Hryhorivka, Riznykivka, Zvanivka, Spirne in Donetsk region. It shelled more than 10 localities with artillery and mortars, including Nevske and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhnekamianske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka in Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut sector , the Defense Forces repelled seven enemy attacks near Bohdanivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka sector, our defenders repelled three enemy attacks near Avdiivka and another nine attacks in the area of Pervomaiske, Donetsk region, where the enemy tried to improve the tactical situation to no avail. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Severne, Netaylove, Pervomayske in Donetsk region.

In the Mariinsky sector , the Defense Forces continue to hold back the occupants near Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region, where the enemy, supported by aviation, launched 4 futile attacks on the positions of our defenders. Maksymilianivka, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka and Kostiantynivka came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Shakhtarsk sector, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack near Urozhayne in Donetsk region. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vodyane, Vuhledar, Urozhayne, Makarivka, Staromayorske in Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhya sector, the enemy tried to regain lost ground in the area of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhya region, to no avail. Four attacks were repelled there. More than 25 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Levadne, Huliaipole, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Mali Shcherbaki, Pyatikhatky in Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson sector, Ivanivka, Sadove, Antonivka and Kherson in the Kherson region came under enemy artillery fire. The enemy also carried out air strikes near the settlements of Kachkarivka and Chervonyi Mayak in the Kherson region.

Occupants' losses over the day

The aviation of the Defense Forces struck 11 areas of concentration of enemy personnel.

Missile troops hit 3 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, an ammunition depot and an enemy control center.

- On December 30, Zelenskyy convened the last meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff this year . Its participants summarized the military results of the year and determined the strategy for the use of the Defense Forces for 2024.

- The Defense Forces attacked enemy warehouses in the Kherson region with JDAM bombs. Ukrainian marines from the 140th separate reconnaissance battalion based in Kherson region recorded the hits on the occupiers' warehouses using drones.
