They are still important: Ukraine's Ambassador to Turkey on the use of Bayraktar drones at the front

Over the two years of Ukraine's war against the aggressor country Russia, the importance of Bayraktar strike UAVs supplied by Turkey has not diminished. Today, however, Ukrainian defenders are using Turkish drones for other purposes.

This was announced by Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar during a briefing. He also spoke about the supply of drones and components from Turkey.

"In fact, the relevance of Bayraktar has not diminished, there is just a different method of use... Today, since the front line is more or less stable and the air defense system (of Russia - ed.) is deeply echeloned, it is inappropriate to use these Bayraktar drones for their intended purpose to strike enemy forces as they, like any aircraft, are quite vulnerable to air defense. Therefore, they are used for other purposes," Bodnar said.

The ambassador also said that Ankara continues to supply Ukraine not only with Bayraktar drones but also with components that help develop new types of UAVs in Turkey.

"All this is a complementary interaction in the defense industry... And, of course, the construction of the Bayraktar plant in Ukraine and the production of these drones with the 'Made in Ukraine' stamp are not off the agenda," Vasyl added.

It is worth reminding that the Bayraktar Akinci combat drone manufactured by the Turkish company Baykar has successfully passed the test of firing a supersonic missile IHA-122. It was fired at a distance of 55 kilometers. The missile was tested using the Bayraktar Akinci UAV in the Sinop province, which is located in the Black Sea region of Turkey. Experts assume that the IHA-122 will reach an even greater range in the next firing tests.

As reported, the construction of a plant for the production of Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicles by the Turkish company Baykar continues in Ukraine. According to the Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleksandr Kamyshyn, the plant will also produce "other things" that cannot be discussed at this time.
