Military need rest, so it is necessary to involve reserves, - Major General Marchenko

Marchenko noted that the military needs rest and replacement

Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Marchenko noted that there are fewer and fewer volunteers in Ukraine who want to join the Armed Forces to resist the enemy. However, the military, who have been fighting since the beginning of the full-scale war, need rest and replacement.

Marchenko said this in an interview with DW. He noted that he supports lowering the mobilization age from 27 to 25 years and emphasizes that the increase in the Armed Forces reserve will be carried out in stages.

"People don't really understand how those who have been fighting for two years feel. They need to rest, so we need to involve reserves. I think that by working together with local governments, police, and the military, we will be able to convey to our male half of Ukraine that we need to resist. If we do not finish this war, we will not have another chance," said Major General Dmytro Marchenko.

He noted that the conscription of persons liable for military service will be carried out in stages and according to a clear distribution and plan of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The major general also added that the occupation forces suffer significant losses at the front, but are replenishing them very quickly.

"The enemy suffers very heavy losses, but has learned to replenish them quickly. And we have to do our best to keep up with this pace. It is not very fair when men aged 50-55 go to war, while 25-year-olds do not mobilize. If you look at those fighting on the other side, the majority are young men," Marchenko said.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov said that there would be no calls for military service for Ukrainians through Diia.

As a reminder, NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov explained that recruitment would be voluntary, with Ukrainians realizing that their specialty is needed by the Defense Forces.
