All utility services will be evacuated from Avdiivka, and mobile communications will be turned off – head of the City Military Administration
All public utilities are to be evacuated from the city of Avdiivka, Donetsk region, which the Russian occupation army is trying to surround. The frontline settlement is being heavily shelled by the occupiers every day, and the situation is becoming increasingly tense.
This was reported on Facebook by the head of the Avdiivka City Military Administration Vitalii Barabash on Sunday, March 26. According to him, due to the constant shelling, Avdiivka is becoming more and more like a place from post-apocalyptic movies and the destroyed by Russian troops Maryinka (to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page).
"A difficult decision has been made to evacuate the rest of our heroes - utility workers who have been trying to keep the city clean and functioning," the official said.
He called on all local residents to leave the frontline city due to heavy Russian shelling. Those who are willing will be taken away from Avdiivka and settled in a safer region.
"So now I am not asking you to leave Avdiivka, I strongly recommend you to leave, because Russian missiles and shells do not spare anyone and nothing, no matter what views you hold! The hotline of the evacuation group "White Angel" in the Avdiivka direction is 066 56 19 102. Or contact the Avdiivka Department of Social Services at 095 60 04 026," Barabash said.
Separately, the head of the City Military Administration warned that after the evacuation of utilities in Avdiivka, mobile communications will be cut off. This is particularly because informants of the Russian Armed Forces remain in the city. Moreover, in a few days, citizens will not even be able to charge their phones.
"We will turn off mobile communication in the city, because, unfortunately, as practice shows, this is a disadvantage for the whole city, because there are not very good Ukrainians who give information... There will be no possibility to charge the phone, because, in a few days, there will be no one to service the generators, to run the mobile tower," he said.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, Russian troops are using similar tactics in an attempt to encircle the Ukrainian Defense Forces in Avdiivka and Bakhmut, Donetsk region. The enemy has been gradually advancing around the city for the past three weeks in the Avdiivka area.
