AFU holds back the initial Russian offensive in Kharkiv region, further successes of the occupants will be limited - British intelligence

Fighting at the front in Ukraine

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have managed to stabilize the situation in the north of Kharkiv region. Russian territorial control in this area of the front is currently fragmented and not unified.

This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defense on X. Further Russian successes in this areaover the next week will be limited as Russia's initial attack was held back by Ukrainian resistance.

British intelligence reports that Russian troops continue to attack the city of Vovchansk. However, Ukrainian forces are actively defending themselves and repelling most of these attacks.

As the village of Buhruvatka, located southwest of Vovchansk, is likely under their control, Russian troops are attempting to establish physical control over the nearby Siverskyi Donets river crossing, thereby threatening the flank and rear of Ukrainian forces defending Vovchansk itself.

The occupiers are advancing towards the village of Lyptsi near the village of Lukiantsi, but according to the General Staff, as of the evening of May 22, 2024, the enemy has not achieved significant success.

It is noted that on May 17, 2024, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said that Russian troops were creating a buffer zone in Kharkiv, but so far the occupiers have not been successful in this.

Earlier, the General Staff reported that from the beginning of the day on May 26 to 10 a.m., 35 combat clashes took place, most of them in the Pokrovsk direction. Meanwhile, the threat of a breakthrough by the occupiers has been repelled in the Kharkiv region, and a stable defense has been established there.

As reported, on the night of May 26, the Russian occupiers massively attacked Ukraine using 14 air-launched missiles and more than three dozen UAVs.
