"What's going to happen?" Russian champion dreams of defeating Ukraine and returning to IIHF tournaments
Two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov dreamed of the return of Russian athletes to international tournaments after "we win the SVO" (as the Russian Federation shamefully calls the war against Ukraine - ed.) The former hockey player, in a patriotic frenzy, demanded that athletes from the aggressor country stop competing under a neutral flag, considering it a humiliation.
Fetisov said this in a comment to the Sport24 portal. The State Duma deputy and an associate of Vladimir Putin's dictatorial regime also accused the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) of allegedly unfair sanctions and expressed confidence that the Russians would not be returned to tournaments in the near future.
"I think our chances of returning to hockey are minimal. They will offer us to play in green or purple jerseys, or they may even offer us rainbow jerseys. We need to play at hockey championships in the Russian national team jersey. This is a men's game, and I can't imagine any other options. We've seen enough of white jerseys with the DPR coat of arms and flag. It is not clear how the decision will be made now. What needs to happen for us to be returned with the flag and anthem? We will win the SVO and everything will fall into place," Fetisov said.
Earlier, he expressed a ridiculous opinion that Russian athletes should be apologized for their suspension and returned to international tournaments.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, two-time Olympic champion Boris Mikhailov made a stupid statement that the Russian national hockey team is not allowed to participate in international tournaments because of fears of rivalry.
