What is happening in Ukraine is a real tragedy. American tennis player could not contain her emotions at Wimbledon
The third racket of the USA Madison Keys emotionally commented on the upcoming meeting with Ukrainian Martha Kostyuk at Wimbledon. The world number 18 is shocked by what is happening in Ukraine.
"News from Ukraine is in the headlines every day in all the media around the world. What's happening in Ukraine is an obvious tragedy. I think it's been incredibly difficult for all the tennis players to figure out how to support players from Ukraine and how to do the right thing. Even as an American who hasn't been hurt by the Russian attack, it's hard to say we're not involved in this situation when it's all happening on the same tour," the 28-year-old Illinois native said at a press conference.
Keys admitted that she tries to support our countrywomen as best she can.
"At the same time, I don't really know what to do in a situation like this," Madison added.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, a match between Keys and Kostyuk in the third round of Wimbledon will be held July 8 and will begin at approximately 3 pm.
We recall that the second racket of Ukraine Marta Kostyuk (#36 WTA), reaching the third round of Wimbledon, has become the youngest Ukrainian tennis player in history to reach the third round at all Grand Slam tournaments (TBS). The 21-year-old from Kyiv is one year better than Elina Svitolina.
