"We are one big family": the Russian champion demanded respect from Ukrainians

Torsunov criticized Litvinenko.

Russian Paralympian Yevgeny Torsunov criticized Ukrainian Oleksandr Lytvynenko, who refused to take a photo with his rival, calling his participation in the 2024 Games a misunderstanding. The track and field athlete from the aggressor country, who won gold in Paris, hypocritically called our compatriots and Russians "one family."

Torsunov said this in an interview with Metaratings.ru. The Russian representative expressed the absurd idea that our athletes are being forced to speak negatively about Russians, forgetting that his country is waging a criminal war to destroy Ukrainians.

"The only negative moment during the entire Paralympics was the words of Ukrainian Oleksandr Lytvynenko addressed to me. I didn't take those words seriously, it didn't hurt me. I think he has to say that now, he is forced to. Of course, from a sporting point of view, he acted ugly, but rivals should respect each other in any case. We are still one big family. Here's an example. In 2019, at the World Cup, he and I took pictures with him as if nothing had happened, taking pictures on the podium, hugging national flags. Everything was great," Torsunov said.

It should be noted that figure skating coach Tatyana Tarasova was outraged by Lytvynenko's comment and demanded that he be punished at the 2024 Games in Paris.
