"War to conquer Ukraine": sports legend responds to Russians' whining over suspension
Any Russian athlete, even if he or she does not support the war in Ukraine, represents a terrorist state, which means that he or she is advertising the country's aggression during his or her performances. For this reason, international federations should not allow representatives of the Russian Federation to compete.
The legendary Olympic champion Dominik Hasek expressed his confidence in this in an interview with Sport.cz, responding to Russian complaints about the illegality of their suspension. The former Czech national ice hockey team goalkeeper noted that Russia is waging a war of aggression against Ukraine, so all sports organizations must stop promoting it.
"I explain to them why Russians are not allowed to play hockey internationally today. They are Russian citizens and always represent their country. No matter how they feel about the war, they are citizens of their country, which means they also represent the actions of their country. This is an aggressive war to conquer Ukraine. This means many lives lost, many lives maimed. That's why I will always try to stop such Russian military advertising, because it costs many lives," said Hasek.
It should be noted that the Czech ex-goalkeeper has been a vocal supporter of Ukraine. After a trip to Kyiv and Kharkiv last summer, he recorded a video message to Ukrainians, wishing them to "drive the Russian sh*t away." Russian Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov threw a real tantrum over the Czech's remarks.
In addition, Dominic said that Russians have no right to compete in international tournaments "until they leave Ukraine and put Putin on trial." He also demanded that Russia pay reparations to our country.
