Usyk's most dangerous rival arrested in the US
Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs), who is called the only one capable of defeating Oleksandr Usyk, was arrested in Los Angeles, TMZ reports. The American boxer was stopped in Hollywood at about 1:15 am local time after officers saw that the windows in the fighter's Rolls-Royce were illegally tinted and his licence plate was hidden.
During the stop, the cops smelled burnt marijuana coming from the car, so they searched the car. TMZ's sources claim that law enforcement officers found "weed" and a 9mm pistol, after which the 37-year-old was taken to a police station.
The media reports that the 2-metre tall Wilder was calm and behaved "friendly" with the police.
According to TMZ, the boxer was charged with possession of a concealed weapon. He was released from jail at 6:34 a.m., reacting to this on Twitter with a laconic post: "I'd rather be safe than sorry. The end".
Deontay fought his last fight last October, winning a spectacular victory at a boxing night in New York (USA). At the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the American boxer knocked out Robert Helenius (31-4, 20 KOs) from Finland.
