Olympic speed skating champion Svetlana Zhurova urged Russians not to have any illusions about the return of Russian athletes to international tournaments. The State Duma deputy complained that Ukraine is "conducting underground propaganda" against the admission of representatives of the aggressor country to tournaments.

Zhurova said this in an interview with Sport24. The accomplice of Vladimir Putin's dictatorial regime noted that the only chance for Russians to return to international competitions is in those sports where our compatriots are practically not represented in federations.

"Currently, all federations are taking turns raising the issue of the return of Russian athletes at their meetings. Most often, they either continue to deny access or allow only juniors and children. If we're talking about discussions behind closed doors, including with Russian representatives, everyone is waiting and wanting to see Russians compete. But they don't want to say it publicly. In some federations, it is simply impossible to shout down Ukraine. And somewhere else, Ukraine behaves more calmly. That's when there are chances that they are not conducting underground propaganda to convince the majority of people not to vote for Russia's return," Zhurova said.

Earlier, former world heavyweight champion and Zhurova's party colleague Nikolai Valuev warned that the Russians "have begun to fight in earnest."
