"There is no chance of going to the Olympics". The Russian national team has been given up on
Well-known Russian commentator Dmitry Guberniev is confident that the Russian biathlon team will not be able to go to the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy. Guberniev believes that next season the Russian biathletes will compete only at home and it will be good if it lasts only one year.
According to the journalist, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) will be the last federation to admit Russian athletes.
"And even if there is an option for admission, biathlon is a military-applied sport. It will be difficult to import weapons and ammunition to other countries. But next year, the World Cup will go to North America, where we, of course, will not go. The chance of returning is a tenth of a percent, if not a hundredth. There is no end in sight," R-Sport quoted Guberniev as saying.
The commentator has no idea how Russia can fulfil the IOC's criteria "in the current realities".
"And here we come to the Olympic topic. Given that the entire Russian biathlon team belongs to the security forces, we have no chance of going to the Games in Milan. Perhaps tennis players will go to Paris and that's it," Guberniev said.
Russian fans in the comments clarify that the reason has long been clear to everyone.
