"Their athletes are afraid,": Svitolina was ridiculously humiliated in Russia

Tarasova criticises Svitolina

The famous figure skating coach Tatiana Tarasova expressed an absurd opinion about the insincerity of Elina Svitolina's demands to international tennis organisations to issue a statement on the impossibility of Ukrainians shaking hands with Russians and Belarusians. The representative of the aggressor country accused our athletes of cowardice.

Tarasova said this in a comment to the propaganda news agency TASS. She added that Ukrainian athletes deliberately oppose the Russian terrorist state because they are allegedly afraid of being criticised by their compatriots.

"If such a statement is officially made, it may be considered. But I am absolutely sure that there will be no reaction to it. I think it was said more out of fear, their athletes are afraid of them," the former figure skater said.

The day before, Elina Svitolina made a spectacular comeback in a game with Belarusian Victoria Azarenka and reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon 2023. The Ukrainian did not shake hands with her opponent after the game, and the fans booed Victoria.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostiuk set a unique record at Wimbledon 2023. And Russians were furious because Elina Svitolina reached the quarterfinals of the tournament.
