The unbeaten Ukrainian boxer won the champion fight by knockout in the last seconds. Video
Ukrainian Peter Ivanov (17-0-2, 12 KOs) defeated Gino Kanters of the Netherlands (10-5-3, 4 KOs) and retained his IBF International welterweight title. The 12-round fight in Rostock, Germany, ended early.
The 26-year-old native of Nizhyn seized the initiative in the ring from the very first minutes and didn't give it up until the end of the fight. Pyotr combined skillfully, confidently jabbed and consistently scored points. Ivanov looked worse on defense, missing rare counterattacks of the underdog.
Kanters behaved predictably, mostly trying to get away from his punches, often with his back to the ropes, trying to counter with overhand moves. It was obvious that the Ukrainian didn't spend much effort, and he even changed his stance during the fight.
In the 11th round, our compatriot had a left hook to the liver, which shook the Dutchman considerably. It was all over in the 12th three minutes.
Fifteen seconds before the final bell, Kanters missed a left side kick to the head. He was able to get to his feet, but the referee did not allow the match to continue, registering an early victory for the favorite.
"I sincerely thank my team for the win, we are one step closer to the world title. Thanks to everyone who was worried and supported, let's move on," commented his success of the Ukrainian.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, on July 2, Ivanov won the IBF International middleweight championship belt by defeating Poland's Robert Talarek (26-15-3, 18 KOs).
We would remind you that in October 2020 Peter Ivanov won the WBC International Silver title. At that time our compatriot defeated the local fighter Yussuf Kanguel (19-4-1, 12 KOs) on a boxing evening in Karlsruhe.
