Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler Oleksandr Hrushyn refused to take a joint photo with Russian Anvar Allakhiarov at the award ceremony at the European Championships held in the Romanian capital. The 25-year-old native of Volnovakha won a silver medal in the 63 kg weight category, while Allakhiarov was content with a bronze medal.

The winner was Murad Mammadov of Azerbaijan. Another bronze medalist was Bulgarian Edmond Nazarian.

During the ceremony, the photographer invited all the athletes to gather together to take a commemorative photo. Hrushyn refused to join the athletes from Bulgaria and Azerbaijan because a "neutral athlete" from Dagestan was standing next to them.

It should be noted that Hrushyn is a graduate of the Kyiv Regional Boarding Lyceum of Physical Culture and Sports and the H. H. Uzun Sports School (Mariupol). In August 2015, he became a world champion among cadets in Saraievo.

In November 2018, he won a bronze medal at the U23 World Championships in Bucharest. In early April 2022, he won a bronze medal at the European Championships in Budapest.

In June 2020, Oleksandr married Alina Akobiia, a well-known Ukrainian wrestler.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Zhan Beleniuk refused to take a joint photo and shake hands with athletes from Russia and Belarus at the continental championship in Bucharest.

Our compatriot, who won a bronze medal in the weight category of up to 87 kilograms, left the podium after receiving the medal.
