Despite Russia's military aggression against his home country, Ukrainian striker Ruslan Chervyakov has signed a contract with Torpedo Moscow. The 18-year-old native of Dnipropetrovs'k (now Dnipro) has already made his debut for the new team in the Russian Premier League match against Saratov's Sokol.

In a commentary to the propaganda TV channel Match TV, Chervyakov said that he wanted to become a Torpedo legend. The forward was not satisfied with his debut for the Muscovites, as his new team lost to Sokol 0-1 at home, dropping them to fifth place.

"It was the first time I played in front of 'live' people, so to speak. When I came out, my knees were shaking. You have to overcome yourself and play. I am grateful to the fans for their support, I could hear them, sometimes they drowned out my teammates. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere at the stadium. My goal is to glorify Torpedo: to bring it back to the top flight and win the Premier League, to become a legend," Chervyakov said.

It is worth noting that the footballer is a product of Dnipro, after which he played in the youth teams of Ingulets and Shakhtar, as well as for the youth team of Portuguese side Gil Vicente.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Veniamin Mandrykin, a three-time Russian football champion with CSKA who fiercely supported the war in Ukraine, died in Moscow.
